Yes, I know the picture's not very good--these folk are so energetic and active that when I got them all to stand still for long enough to take a photo, I just grabbed my iPod and snapped while the going was good!
These are only some of the volunteers who run 'Lunch at Laurie's', pictured by the kitchen door.
'Lunch at Laurie's' provides lunch, usually every Saturday from noon till 2.00 pm, to anyone that wants to come, at the church hall. This has included those who are sleeping rough or are otherwise homeless, those in financial difficulty, and those who could just do with the company.
On offer is a simple but nutritious meal, the chance to chat in good company, a listening and sympathetic ear, and, for those with more complex problems, referral to specialist agencies for specialist help.
Also available for those who need it is used but good quality clothing and shoes, toiletries, and other items, including sleeping bags from time to time.
"Everyone is welcome - that's the ethos of the place!" says Karen, who leads the team. (That's Karen, in the front row on the right in the photo).
If you feel able to help, either by coming to help one Saturday, or by donating clean used clothing in good condition, or in some other way, please tell Karen.
